The Clinical Trial Begins....

Today was some Monday. It began at 8 am and we are now back at 3:30 pm. Dennis began with his first infusion of avastin or the placebo that took 90 minutes-they do this slowly the first time in case the person is allergic to the drug. He will receive this once every other week for 26 weeks. Avastin is use on recurring cancers of the brain but has only recently been accepted by the FDA for clinical trials and initial treatment.

Then when he went to radiology they used x rays to make sure what they were targeting had not changed in dimension.
The techs said there were no changes and that was a good sign. Fourteen more to go and we are outta here!
He sailed through both of his appointments, and is now more tired than most days. Thank goodness it is cool and cloudy. We are celebrating by having home baked Amish chicken (from Missouri) and heating up the apartment.
Talk with you tomorrow, Faith and Dennis

Go Dennis!!!!

The Samuelson family continues to pray! Kylie is especially vigilant about remembering "Mr. Neil." Along the journey we hope that Jesus makes himself very real to your entire family! God bless!

Joanne loved your picture. It reminded her of the days when she gave patients their infusions. She says you look great and that fatigue is not unusual with ongoing radiation treatment. Keep up the good work and know that we think of you often.

Hey there Dennis and Faith! Sandy, Dave and Maya here from the God-forsaken City :-).

We LOVED your picture -- your special spark jumps right off the page. Our thoughts and prayers are with you each day -- and we know that you'll soldier through this and be home in lovely Ketchikan in no time.

You're on the 'down hill slope' now, and within a handful of weeks you'll be sitting on the porch with a cat in your lap, Kona at your feet, Faith whipping up something yummy in the kitchen, and talkin' smart :-).

We're escaping the God-forsaken City for an Alaskan trip at the end of this week. We hope to track down Kent in Delta Junction -- and we'll drink a toast to you, Chief!!

Hang in there Boss - soon you'll be home and settled back in the Great Land.
