Dennis Update - June 16, 2009 - 10:00 am

Dennis is doing ok this morning. He is pretty groggy and is resting a lot. He is in a little less pain and will have an MRI in the next half hour or so to make sure everything is in order from the surgery. They plan to move him out of the CCU and into a regular (more comfortable room) some time today. They want to get him up and moving today.

Let's hope everything is in order! Glad to hear things went well and you are now on the road to recovery. Hopefully your hearing is intact:

A man feared his wife wasn't hearing as well as she used to and he thought she might need a hearing aid.

Not quite sure how to approach her, he called the family doctor to discuss the problem.

The Doctor told him there is a simple informal test the husband could perform to give the doctor a better idea about her hearing loss.

"Here's what you do," said the Doctor, "stand about 40 feet away from her, and in a normal conversational speaking tone see if she hears you.

If not, go to 30 feet, then 20 feet, and so on until you get a response.."

That evening, the wife is in the kitchen cooking dinner, and he was in the den. He says to himself, "I'm about 40 feet away, let's see what happens."

Then in a normal tone he asks, 'Honey, what's for dinner?"

No response.

So the husband moves closer to the kitchen, about 30 feet from his wife and repeats, "Honey, what's for dinner?"

Still no response.

Next he moves into the dining room where he is about 20 feet from his wife and asks, "Honey, what's for dinner?"

Again he gets no response.

So, he walks up to the kitchen door, about 10 feet away. "Honey, what's for dinner?"

Again there is no response.
So he walks right up behind her. "Honey, what's for dinner?"

(I just love this)

"Dennis, for the FIFTH time, CHICKEN!"

Ha! Ha! I will be in Seattle around lunch time on Friday, so if you're still around and would like a friendly visitor, please let me know!

Dennis: Watch out for slow nurses...they get a little "behind" in their work.

As I recall, we still need to get together sometime over "an adult beverage" to discuss life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

I'm pretty sure you said you'd buy!

Stands With Phone!
Good to hear an encouraging word when the skies are so cloudy all day. As your hair grows out, you'll be able to reprise the Kicking Bird 'do from the old days. I'll be watching for those photos! There were about 25 head of elk in southwest Lakewood (Bear Creek Lake Park) this weekend. Thought I heard them calling your name.

Hi Dennis ~

So good to know you are surrounded by family, friends and a community of support during this challenging time.

I don’t know if you remember the time we drove (in your rented red Mustang) to your favorite gun shop in Anchorage and the shop worker thought you were my father…so the rest of the trip I got to call you Pops!

Pops – hang in there!

Healing thoughts your way ~

Erik

Just posted this at the 'fire.

By now, I figure you are prolly up and 'bout, looking to get outta there, Dennis. Sooo, I thought I'd drop you a line before I go and run Clark Dog.

Hopefully, last night brought you some good rest and you woke up ready to dance the day.

Just want you to know that Ned and I are still sending positive vibes/prayers, and wishes for a quick recovery and speedy trip back to AK/home.

Until you get this b!tch licked, you'll be in our thoughts/hearts/prayers....it's just sorta the way I dance an upset with someone I respect and care about.

Same ole Bear Hugs, as usual,
Jane and Ned

Howdy Dennis and Faith!
Sandy and Dave here in the big city (aka the 'hell hole'). You are in our thoughts and our prayers every minute. We're so happy to hear that the surgery went well -- and we know that you'll be back on your feet and causing trouble very soon.

Please know that you are surrounded by your friends and family all across the country - and by all the folks whose lives you have touched -- and each and every one of them is sending positive mojo your way!

Hang in there Chief -- we love you!
Sandy & Dave (and Maya too!!)

Dennis Neill aka Scar. I'm sure now that you have a nifty new scar on your noggin, you'll use that as the reason for your designated radio call sign, or at least try too. Ralphy, Woody, Felix, and Cato will make sure the truth will eventually come out. But we'll wait until your up to it so you can tell the story yourself.
